Ciao, I'm

Flavia

Guide & Archaeologist

I'm a proud Roman, born and raised here. When I was just a kid, I decided to study archaeology and so I did! I love being a tour guide and sharing my passion for art and history. I also love making people laugh and have a great sense of humor. When I'm not guiding, I enjoy walking alone in museums and art galleries, and of course, traveling!

I love that I’m constantly reminded of the history of my city and how you’ll find ruins of the ancient Romans where you least expect it.

About Me

Q. What inspired you to become a guide?

In school I studied art and history, so that has influenced my career path a lot. I thought I could share my passion with other people and as soon as I graduated I took the exam to get my tour guide license.

Q. What's your favorite part of being a tour guide?

I love my job! For me, it's like travelling a little bit every time I meet people on my tours from around the globe. I can also be myself — with me you can be sure to learn while having fun!

My Insider Tips for Rome

Q. Best time of year to enjoy Rome?

I prefer January and February because the city is very quiet. It’s a great time to visit if you want to avoid and the spring and summer crowds.

Q. What about Roman culture should people not miss?

In Rome, you shouldn’t miss aperitivo! It’s like happy hour and Trastevere or Monti are the perfect neighborhoods to find a good wine bar to sit at with friends and unwind after a long day of work or sightseeing.

Q. What do you tell your visiting friends to see in Rome?

My first recommendation for friends visiting Rome is to get a guided tour of the Colosseum. I also tell them to walk around the city center and see the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona (luckily they’re all pretty close!) It's even better during the night to see the city as it really is. I always mention my favorite museum, Palazzo Massimo, next to Termini station, with an amazing collection of ancient Roman frescoes. If you want to do a day trip, go to Tivoli and visit villa d'Este and villa Adriana. It was built by Emperor Hadrian and is one of the most complex Roman villas known of!
